Henry - 21 months

Just wanted to get down a few things Henry has been up to and saying lately.

He is a little sponge who LOVES to learn and explore. When he's playing with something new, you can see the wheels in his head turning, trying to figure out how it works, what it can do, etc. Even something like an empty grocery sack will give him several minutes of entertainment. He mimics so much of what he sees around him. Tonight he was shaking a grocery sack, mimicking how his Daddy opened a garbage bag. It was so funny to see how serious he was about this task. If Daddy is watching football, he will occasionally "scream" at the tv. It's hilarious and I hope to get a video of it someday.

He picked up a sponge brush that I use for gluing craft projects and asked "This?" I told him it was a sponge brush and he proceeded to "brush" his hair with it. Weeks later and he still brushes his hair with the sponge brush.

Although curious about the world around him, Henry is a bit of a scaredy cat. He likes to check stuff out, but if it startles him, he's not very forgiving, often taking several attempts before actually enjoying. For instance, we got him a small 4 wheeler for Christmas and he thought it was neat until he realized that it moved when you push the red button. He panicked and hollered every time we tried to get him on. Of course once he saw cousin Olivia on it, he just had to try. He more or less just wants a test dummy so he can see the full picture before jumping in. Mike said that he gets that from him as he was that way as a child. Hopefully he will grow out of that soon and start enjoying the daring stuff with his Mama. :)

He's also sensitive to crowds, new places and new faces.  We were opening gifts on Christmas and I think it was too much for him because he got wildly upset and inconsolable over something that wouldn't have been a big deal any other time. He's not a big fan of commotion and he certainly notices when our routines are different.  This weekend he's had bad diarrhea (sorry for the TMI) and I've had to bathe him in the morning when he gets up instead of at bedtime. He cries and screams "No, no, no!" and fights going in the tub, which he normally enjoys. You can see the confusion on his face and I'll admit, it bothers me to see him so upset when usually loves getting in the tub and playing with Nemo the rubber fish.

When he says "See!" it either means, "I want to see" or "Look!"

When he asks "This?" he wants to know what it's called, what it does and will ask over and over again until he's satisfied with your answer.

something that sounds like Olivia but I'm not sure how to spell it

Daddy and he still calls him Mike sometimes. LOL!

Oh and he has the absolute best fake laugh. He doesn't know he's being fake, but he does it when we laugh and he's not really sure what's so funny. Of course we laugh even harder which usually incites more fake laughter. Love that little guy!

He currently weighs about 24-25 pounds, depending on the scale, no clue how tall he is though.  He's wearing a few 24 month tops, but mostly 18 months. All of his pants are 18 months as he has his Mama's short legs. Size 5 shoes and size 4 diapers. He's still a champion sleeper who rarely sees morning on Saturdays. Yep, my cool kid sleeps until nearly noon on Saturdays.  We know we are VERY blessed by this and we are VERY thankful.
