Busy summer

It's been a crazy hot, busy, fun summer!  We've had lots of fun playing with our cousins, visiting all kinds of relatives, hanging out on the boat, playdates at Mickey D's and even a trip to the splash park!
He was cautiously curious of the splash park at first. There were so many kids running around and of course the obligatory squealing, screaming little girls. He's about as big of a fan as you'd think he is, he hates it.

He really enjoyed it once the "big" kids gave him some space and let him play with this fire hydrant. Of course, once it was time to go, he was ticked off with the timing.  Bribery of animal crackers and juice didn't work so it was a LONG car ride home.

The bathtub at home is more his pace though. He loves to splash and play in the water by himself, without a bunch of other rowdy kids around.  He loves to fill the bucket full of water and "give Kiki a drank!" He sounds like a little hick; I love it!!

Nanny showed us an app on the iphone where you make fireworks. Henry loves this!!  He's really good with the touchscreen but still makes me nervous that he will get angry and chunk the phone. :)  We've discussed getting a cheap tablet for him to "play games" and "watch pictures" but might hold off until after he's potty trained.  Not only would it be a great incentive, there's just something off about a kid in diapers with his own tablet. Not passing judgment on anyone else, but you have to admit, it's a little freaky that toddlers know how to work these things.

Oh and speaking of potty training, that's on the radar.  We've bought the undies (OMG, I know this sounds bad, those little bitty undies are beyond adorable!!), dum dums for incentive, flushable wipes and 3, count 'em 3 potty "structures."  One is the traditional plastic potty on the floor (Ew. Seriously? So gross.). The second is a smaller seat that folds down out of the toilet lid and the 3rd is a toilet seat that is attached to little steps so he can climb up to sit on the toilet to do his business. Not sure which one will be the winner, but whatever works, we'll be thrilled. We've scheduled some vacation time in August to barricade ourselves in the house to get this thing down. Sounds like a dreamy vacation, you know you're jealous!!

He loves to mimic, but not really sure who he's mimicking here. Hee hee!

He was waiting in Nanny's car on Mama to get to the meeting spot after work one day. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw him in polka dot sunglasses, nevermind the flowery carseat cover. Gotta love a little boy that doesn't care if it's pink or blue as long as it's comfy or fun to play with.

Serious face while watching the Olympics opening ceremony. He loves to watch the swimming competitions and the divers. He squeals everytime they jump in the water.
Kiki, the diva, baby girl, pain in the butt.  We love our Kiki Monster.  We tease that she's lucky she can't hear Henry's temper tantrums. We also joke that she needs to get a job to support herself.  She's taken a big interest in Henry's food lately and LOVES to go in his room at night to make sure he's still sleeping, safely away from her.  She really does love him, but you can tell that she's thankful when he's in bed so she can have all the attention from Mama and Daddy.

A little of this

and a little of that. I figured it was time to an update so here's some low quality phone pics to go along with it. :)
Hanging out, watching cartoons before church. He was excited to "Go see Wyan and Bison at church!" (translated "go see Ryan and Bryson at church)

trying on girls' (Izzy's) shoes and thankfully he looks puzzled with his behavior :)

I got the picture of Henry blowing bubbles and then this text from Nanny. Too funny!!
Can u see the bubbles & wand Henry has in his hand?  Well, he stuck the wand in his mouth & I told him, "no, no, don't put it in ur mouth!".  Then, everytime he would say something after that bubbles would come out his mouth!!  I laughed SO HARD I thought I'd never stop laughing....cause he kept talking & making bubbles!!!!  TOO STINKIN FUNNY!! Of course, he had NO idea what was cracking me up!!  Wish u could have seen it!!!!

June 12th - Henry's first trip on the train. I got off work a little early one afternoon so we surprised Daddy at the train station that drops off/picks up just one stop before his. I love when something I've always wanted to do just comes together so easily. Henry loved riding the train and Daddy enjoyed the surprise passengers.

In the mornings before it gets too hot, Nanny takes the kids for a walk. Henry's favorite thing to ride is this little big wheel. We don't have to tell him that it has Tinkerbell on it.

Father's Day weekend, Mike sold his weight set (his was getting no love since he started working out on his lunch hour at his office).  Since we had an extra room, we moved all of Henry's toys and changing table so he could have a new place to play.  This room will eventually be the next baby's room (No, don't go there.) but in the meantime, Henry is certainly enjoying his "pay room!"

We might have a little budding artist on our hands. This is the little art table at Izzy's house and he just loves to sit and color. This picture makes me a little sad as he looks way too grown up here. I guess my little baby is now a little boy.

A few other things that I don't want to forget:
The other night Henry picked up a little piece of scrap foam that Mike had. "What's that, Daddy?" he asked. Mike said "That's a piece of foam, buddy." Henry, without skipping a beat, picks it up, puts it to his ear and say "Hello!" Mike and I busted up laughing. He thought Daddy said "phone" not "foam" and couldn't understand why we were laughing. He just fake laughed and walked off. Little goober.

He mimics every.single.thing. we do now. Talk about humbling and behavior changing. Ha! Nothing like hearing your 2 year old holler from the backseat "Go cars! What are you doing? Come on!" I guess it's time for me to remember that he sees and hears everything and will most likely repeat it!!  He does the cutest little "hush" motion with his finger. He's usually grinning from ear to ear when he does it, you can see his little dimple the left side of face which makes it that much cuter.

He has learned how to count to 20, but consistently skips 6 and 8. He gets really excited with random numbers along the way but usually throws his hands up in excitement when he gets to 20.  I'm still constantly amazed at the things he learns and picks up on.

We've casually introduced potty training to him. Everyone says he will surprise us and learn quickly, but man I'm hoping they are right. I've been dreading this stage for a long time now. Izzy was potty trained in just a few short days last weekend so he's really curious what she's up to and why she's getting treats for her deeds. We bought the tiniest pair of underwear and while I'm not sure how big I thought they would be, they just look so tiny, like little baby clothes. We're hoping and praying the CARS characters will entice him get it down accident free. We're going to officially start in the next few weeks. Here's to wishful thinking! : )

Well I guess that's all for now. We have a busy weekend ahead but I hope to post more about that later. Have a good one!
