We put up our tree a few days after Thanksgiving during Henry's nap. When he got up, he asked what the tree was and we told him that it was Christmas tree. He asked "For Henry?" and I told him "No, it's for baby Jesus." He agreed and said "Yes, for baby Jesus. And Henry." Every tree we saw after that he would tell us that the tree was for baby Jesus. Love seeing the true Spirit in our son!
I went to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular featuring the amazing Rockettes with my sweet friend Julie. We saw them together 3 years ago so this was a nice treat. Even better, they were suite tickets and comped by the company I work for. I can definitely handle that!
Nana found a wooden children's nativity set and got it for Henry. I'm not sure he really understood anything other than baby Jesus, but we will keep working. He made us laugh though when he put all of the wise men in the corner and said "Dey need timeout!" Only Jesus was perfect, folks.
On December 10th, Henry got to meet Santa! We saw him on a firetruck one night but got to meet him at Bass Pro.
He loved talking to Santa, telling him that he saw him on the firetruck, but completely lost his mind when it was time to sit on his lap for pictures.
I know it's mean to laugh when you're child isn't happy, but you have to admit, this reaction is priceless!! Maybe next year.
We came home and put on his warm Santa jammies.
December 16th was the night of the children's musical at our church and Henry did great with his preschool group. They sang two songs, one of which went like this "The angel told Mary 'Good news! Good news! Good news!' The angel told Mary 'Good news, Jesus will be born!" Henry did great, sang all the words and did the hand motions. It was incredibly sweet and Mike and I are so proud of how good he did on the stage.
"Jesus will be born!"
We did our traditional Christmas Eve with Mike's side of the family. We opened gifts - Henry got more cars, books and clothes than he knows what to do with; we ate snacks and enjoyed visiting. After supper, the girls and Henry loaded up into the car to go look at Christmas lights. Santa came for a surprise visit while we were out and left Henry some neat toys! He got a shiny new tricycle and even though his legs are little too short, he still enjoys driving (with his tip toes) it through the house.
Santa came!
"Weee!!"
Christmas morning we went to Nikki's house for gifts and lunch. I helped Henry open his gifts so I forgot to take my camera out. Hoping others got some good photos of the family. During lunch it started to sleet and by the time we were finished, huge snowflakes started to fall. It was a beautiful, white Christmas! The only bad thing, we had to cross the lake twice to get home so we loaded up a little early to head back home. We spent the rest of the evening watching football and warming up by the fire.
Wednesday, the roads were still a little icy so Henry had a snow day with Daddy. Unfortunately, Mama had to go to work but it was a quiet day, got a lot accomplished.
The girls had lots of down time with us being home during the Christmas holidays. Kiki is happy to take a nap wherever she can lay down. Lucy obliges by climbing up next to her, usually with one of her toys. Kiki is sweet with her and plays about once a day with her before crashing out again.
She just couldn't leave the tree skirt alone and unfortunately it suffered an untimely death. Mama is still bitter about it.
I sit on you and keep my rump warm, ok?

New Year's Eve, I was a bridesmaid in a dear friend's wedding and Mike was the videographer so we stayed busy the last couple of days of the month. It was great ringing in 2013 with Mike, my parents and lots of great friends. Wishing everyone a very happy, very blessed 2013!
