Skydive

For my 30th birthday, Mike thought it would be fun to arrange a skydive for me.  Of course this idea was well received (I went 5 years ago and loved it, always said I'd do it again someday) and was a fun, unexpected surprise.  The bad news, the day we were supposed to jump, September 15th, it was way too cloudy as it had rained prior to that morning. Buzzkill.  Between the dicey weather throughout October and November and then me getting bronchitis and a double ear infection at Thanksgiving, we postponed so many trips I lost count.  My Uncle Hugh decided he wanted to join us so we tried March 16th, but the wind gusts foiled it again.  Today though was different. The weather was beautiful!!  Partly cloudy skies and winds under 10 mph. PERFECT!!

We got up at 5am and left the house at 6:30. It's a long haul to Skydive Dallas but it was beyond worth it.  Since we did our jump school back in March, we were called back almost immediately to suit up.

I'm so thankful that Mike added the video and photo package. Awesome and totally worth it to have these pics and video.

The plane!

Rockin' the helmet!  Mark was an awesome tandem instructor, very cool and had a great personality.

Seeing them bail out made me excited, nervous, anxious and ready to jump out behind them.

We were headed face first toward the earth. I think I was laughing maniacally at this point. What a rush!!!

So.

Much.

Fun!

Funny thing to point out, I thought I had both of my hands the same, not realizing that my right fingers were doing something wheels off. When you're flying at 120 mph, you don't focus on the details. :)

This is when Mark released the chute, which feels like being in a car and slamming on the brakes. My back didn't appreciate that but again, all worth it.
My cheeks were catching some wind.

Pretty cool that the camera chick got a shot from under us as the chute was releasing

Coming in for the landing

A tangled, happy mess

Loved every second of it! Thank you Mike for the awesome surprise and for supporting me in my dreams even when you think they are crazy.  I sure love you for letting me take chances and enjoy life to the fullest.

So glad my Uncle Hugh and our friend Jeremy got to come and experience this awesome thrill.  It was great seeing y'all enjoying it too!  And a big thanks to our family that came out to watch and cheer us on.  Y'all are troopers for getting up early, making the long drive and hanging out while we had fun.  You guys rock!!
