Valentine's Day 2013

If you know much about us, you know that we're not into celebrating silly holidays.  And if you know Mike, he's not about to spend money on chocolate or flowers or jewelry.  That's all good with me though. We express our love for each other year round, but I try to at least make him a card and tell him how much I love him. Yada, yada, right? No different than most people.

Three years ago, we started a tradition of eating Chinese takeout and watching a movie together.  The first year it was Princess Bride, but I couldn't tell you what we watched last year or the year before that. What's important, we had a tradition and made it something special for us, not defined by anyone else.  This year though was a flop.  There's a big migration at Mike's office and it's after 9pm and he still hasn't made it home yet.  I've always called his job the other woman because "her" calls are always in the middle of the night or on holidays when it's not a good time.  "She" pays the bills so I don't complain.  You gotta joke about it or it can really stink being home alone, even on a silly night such as this.

The good news, even though my love is working tonight, my little love and I got to hang out and enjoy the evening together.  It was magical, a night of cartoons, toys and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

chilling on the couch, coming down off the sugar high from his V-Day party at school

Cheese face!!

He was so high on sugar that I was surprised to see him tear into this pb&j.  (Definitely not as good as Chinese takeout but it sure made his belly happy!)

"I always feel like somebody's watching me."

He even gave me a pedicure. He's cheaper than going to the salon and way cuter than the average nail tech.  He told me "Der, you foot is bootyful."

His goodies from his classmates. There's more sugar than he or I know what to do with!!

So, there's our excitement for Valentine's Day 2013.  Hoping Mike gets off work before I crash out for the night.  Happy Valentine's Day!
