Random catch up

Confession: I was reading other friends' blogs tonight and thought "I wish I had time to blog." Duh. Stop reading and start writing. I originally created this blog so that extended family could keep up with us and so that I'd have something to reminisce on someday. At this rate, it will be a short read. I won't promise to do better, I've done that before (and again!) and failed miserably.  Hopefully I can keep you guessing, but still coming back to see what we're up to.

This post will be all over the place as I've got lots of catching up to do. Ready?

Henry, the boy cracks me up. He's talking like crazy now and makes us laugh daily.  Some stuff I don't want to forget:

Bess you, Mama (bless you)
Wyan and Byson (Ryan and Bryson, his little buddies from church)
watch Cars
Wha' happened?
Hey Mom! Watch! (and yes, my heart skips a beat or two when I hear that!!)
more chocolate milk
Kiki siwwy (silly)
school bus
dung (sounds like dung but it means truck)
slide
Creen (Corinne)
Tisco (Cisco the dog)
Derry (Jerry)
Omma (Emma)
Ra randa (Miranda)
Omas (Tomas, our neighbor)
The Hoppa!!

Henry loves to say "bessings" or blessings before every meal. It melts my heart to hear "Amen!" come out of the mouth of a small child, my child. His Nanny prays with him before nap so we've recently started praying at bedtime as well.  He doesn't really understand what's going on yet, but I feel that he will learn to grow and know Christ some day when he's older.

He also LOVES going to the park and will dang near pee his pants when he gets to go.  The swing is his favorite, but he also enjoys climbing and crawling on everything. He's a monkey at home too.  His new favorite thing to do is climb on the table or the back of the couch.  He gets put into time out for this more times than I'd like to admit. I guess he's not a quick learner.

He is obsessed with the movie CARS. We watch it every. single. day.  When he was sick last week, we were watching it twice and almost three full times a day. I hear Owen Wilson's voice even when it's quiet in the house.  Mike and I could probably quote 90% of the movie and get the voice inflections and timing down just as well. He loves to say "Uh oh!" when the race cars wreck or when the spark plugs incinerate the car during one of the scenes. My favorite though, when DJ (the car with the base) and his other car friends drive up, Henry will bounce his hand like he's at the club. Thank you, Mike Holland.

We are looking forward to getting him on my parents' new boat in the next couple of weeks. We bought him a life jacket and he must have thought he looked pretty cool in it because he wore it for about 10 minutes one night, just running around the house. Definitely looking forward to taking him on his first boat ride. I think he will love it!

So, other than the cute little monster, Mike and I have been doing great. We are looking forward to the fun summer ahead full of racing, hanging out and spending time with our families.  Our 5 year wedding anniversary is next month so we're planning a quick little weekend getaway. Nothing over the top fancy, but we thought we'd treat ourselves.  We know that even though we're parents now, we still have to take time for ourselves and continue building our marriage.

Oh and some other exciting news, the Thursday before Easter, I was offered a job that I couldn't in a million years turn down. It's a job that I dreamed about and even though I was nervous about leaving the company that I worked at for 7 year, I knew this was a fantastic opportunity that God picked out just for me. I started at the end of April as a Class Coordinator for a retail arts and craft store. It's a corporate job, but I get to be creative and have learned tons and tons just my first 3 weeks on the job. I know we're still in the honeymoon phase, but I am incredibly happy with the work that I get to do, I have a boss that appreciates me and is highly encouraging and I'm excited to see my future grow there. I thank the Lord daily for this opportunity and Mike is thrilled to see me so happy. Happy wife, happy life. :)

Mother's Day weekend was nuts. Henry had a viral respiratory infection so we were pretty much cooped up in the house with the exception of a trip to the ER for a chest x-ray and then a trip to the pharmacy for inhalers and steroids. Through everything though, I was beyond appreciative that I was able to be with my son, the little boy that made me a Mama. Mike brought home flowers and a card from Henry for Mother's Day so that made up for all the icky stuff we had to deal with.  And if you're wondering, Henry's almost fully back to his rotten self.

Well, I guess that's all the randomness I have for now. Thanks for reading along. Good night!
