He weighed in at 21 pounds 14.5 ounces and is 31 inches tall. He did really great with the doctor looking in his ears, but freaked when we laid him down on the table. He only
Henry isn't using many real words, but he uses gibberish that seems to make sense to him.
His favorites are:
uh-oh
daddy
the occasional "hi"
Mike and I are blown away as he learns and grows more each day. He follows simple directions, unless it involves us saying "no" or "stop." He's terribly hard headed but we're standing our ground so hopefully he will soon learn that Mama and Daddy mean business. Ok, so sometimes we laugh under our breath, but we are consistent. :)
Walking was a novelty only for a little bit and now he runs/shuffles all over the house. He's very quick and kinda sneaky as he appears right behind you when you least expect it. We have to close all of the bedroom and bathroom doors because he is very curious. He's also VERY nosey and will wander over to see what you're eating or getting in to.
The biggest accomplishment lately is mastery of the sippy cup! For nearly 5 months, Henry protested drinking from anything, no bottles, no cups, nothing. One day, after the one millionth attempt, Henry finally drank out of his fancy Til.ty cup. It's a messy cup as it doesn't have a valve in it, but it showed him that good stuff really does come out of the cups. He LOVES milk and water. I started him on organic whole milk and his tummy adjusted great. We haven't tried juice or tea, not wanting to chance him not drinking milk any longer. He lost months' of good fats and protein so we're still trying to catch up.
He still loves to eat but he's becoming a little picky. He loves macaroni and cheese and yogurt. He likes chicken but prefers carbs, just like his Mama. I think the kid would live off of Chee.rios and yogurt if I let him.
Henry is still sucking his ring finger and middle finger when he's tired. I saw a bitter solution in a magazine, still trying to decide if that's the route for us to go or not. (If you have any experience with this, please email me.)
The cutest thing he does is points when he's excited. He points with both hands but he's selective, saving that for Mama, Daddy and Mickey Mouse. He loves Mickey and his face lights up when he sees him on tv. Henry has the BEST belly laugh on the planet and it always brightens my day.
We feel so blessed that God chose us to be Henry's parents. He's such a happy kid, even when he's being rotten, he's still a barrel of laughs.
Sorry for the quality, this is a picture of a picture taken Father's Day weekend. Henry impressed the photog, she asked if he could have his picture framed on their studio wall. Well, of course!
